Józef Stachnik

   Józef Stachnik is a Polish painter who specialises in oil painting and watercolours. Born in 1929 in Krakow, he took up painting in 1966.
   Stachnik attended courses in painting in Professor Ludwik Pindel’s studio and completed Studies in Art run by Professor W. Hodys. He has been verified as an artist and painter by the Polish Ministry of Culture and Arts.
   In 1993 he completed a two-year study in the Easel Painting and Printmaking Section of the Faculty of Arts at the People’s Extra-mural University of Arts of the Russian Ministry of Culture.
   Stachnik is the member of the Society of the Friends of the Fine Arts in Krakow, the Creative Artist Club at the Voivodeship Culture Centre in Krakow and Krakow Artistic and Literary Association. He participated in 160 group exhibitions and had 62 individual ones. He received numerous prizes and awards.
   Stachnik’s individual exhibitions abroad include:
   Folkehoy Skolen, Skieberg and Rammesenteret, Sarpsborg,Norway – 1990;
   Löhrerhof Hürth, Germany – 1996;
   Kurier Plus Gallery, New York, USA – 1999; Polish Consulate, New Jork, USA – 2000.
   Stachnik also participated in group exhibitions abroad. These include: Arts Fair, Nürnberg,
   Germany – 1987; Kiev, Ukraine – 1991; Helene Appel Gallery, Paris, France – 1996;
   Polish Culture Festival, New York, USA – 1999.
   He participated in plein air painting sessions in Paris, Venice, Assisi and Budapest.
   His paintings can be found in many collections: the National Museum of the Przemyśl Region; the Historical Museum of the City of Krakow, Krakow Ethnographic Museum; Tarnow District Museum; Nowy Sącz District Museum; the Museum in Chrzanow; Stanisław Nowakowski Museum in Nieszawa, Professor Stanisław Fischer Museum in Bochnia, Myślenice Regional Museum, H. Ławniczak Regional Museum in Krotoszyn.
