Izabela Delekta-Wicińska

    She was born in 1921 in Wadowice, a daughter of a captain of the Twentieth Infantry Regiment of the Kraków Region and a teacher. Widow of Franciszek Delekta - a singer and a pedagogue, a mother Rafał - conductor. She has spent all her life in Cracow, providing the city with both her painting and acting talent. During the German occupation she attended the School of Artistic Craft in Wenecja Street and took part in the activity of the Underground Theatre in the groups of Wiesław Górecki and Andrzej Mularczyk.. In 1945 Izabela took up studies at Fine Arts Academy under the supervision of professors: Zbigniew Pronaszko, Wojciech Weiss and Wacław Taranczewski in whose workshop she obtained her diploma in 1952. During the studies she had contact with such names as: Radnicki Z., Jurkiewicz A., Gardowski L., Gałęzowski S., Hopiński J., Rzegociński W.   
In 1950 she obtained the actors diploma; apart from this she was taught singing by professor Ramaniszyn B. and dancing by professor Strzębosz Z.   
Her whole acting career since 1949 took place in one theatre - "Młodego Widza", "Rozmaitości" and "Bagatela" marked with her 66 outstanding creations in the history of the latter. She took part in numerous radio broadcasts, programmes, TV performances and films. Since 1949 she also began active artistic work, first as a draftsman in newspapers (vignettes, occasional drawings and cartoons); since 1950 she showed her works at many exhibitions. Her paintings are to be found in numerous Polish and foreign museums and private collections. She is an active member of The Association of Polish Artists and Designers, performing many responsible functions. She has been awarded with the Gold Order of Merit, Gold Badge of the City of Cracow, the Medal of Merit for the Polish Maritime Painting and rewarded with honourable membership of The Association of Polish Maritime Artists.
